R.C. Sproul preached an excellent sermon at tonight's worship service. He began by saying that he had preached this same sermon many times (Charlie heard it at the Twin Lakes Pastor's Conference), and apologized to those who have already heard it; but the committee asked him to preach the text (Genesis 28:10-19) so it was their fault, not his.
I could have cared less - though it was my first hearing. Dr. Sproul delivered a great exposition of the passage. Jacob is traveling toward Haran, and dreamed of the ladder stretching from heaven to earth, with angels ascending and descending.
The bottom line? Jesus is that ladder: the only access to heaven, the only access to the heavenly father, the only mediator between God and man.
