Cherries Garish Glory Revealed

Have you ever had a real maraschino cherry? Let me answer for you: no.

Melissa Clark of the NYT writes on the lost art of maraschino cherries and turns to cherry-making. She includes recipes for both Maraschino Cherries and Spiced Brandied Cherries.

She concludes, of course, "that the best things are worth the bother." Amen.
